Last Updated: September 18, 2026

1. Introduction

Oceanic Consulting ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting the privacy of our merchants and their customers. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard information within the JeEm's POS application and related digital services.

2. Information We Collect

To provide a functional and reliable Point of Sale (POS) service, we collect the following categories of data:

  • Merchant Account Information: Full name, business name, registered email address, phone number, and physical business location.
  • Transaction Data: Details of transactions processed through the system, including itemized sales, pricing, quantities, tax calculations, and selected payment methods.
  • Device & Technical Data: Unique Android ID, hardware model, operating system version, and IP address to verify device authorization and ensure hardware compatibility (e.g., integrated thermal printers and card readers).

3. Device Permissions Requested

The JeEm's POS mobile application requires specific system permissions to function properly:

  • Bluetooth / Nearby Devices: To connect and pair with external hardware such as receipt printers, barcode readers, and card terminals.
  • Camera Access: To enable real-time camera scanning of barcodes and QR codes for quick inventory management.
  • Storage Access: To generate, save, and download digital transaction receipts, tax invoices, and sales reports in CSV or PDF format.

4. How We Use Your Information

We process collected data strictly for operational and regulatory purposes, including to:

  • Process financial transactions and issue digital or physical printed receipts.
  • Provide real-time inventory tracking, stock updates, and business analytics.
  • Maintain compliance with statutory financial and tax reporting standards.
  • Prevent unauthorized access, fraudulent activity, and system misuse.

5. Data Sharing & Third Parties

We do not sell, rent, or trade merchant or customer data. We only share information with authorized third parties when necessary:

  • Payment Gateways: To authorize, clear, and settle payment card or mobile money transactions.
  • Infrastructure Providers: Secure cloud platform providers for encrypted data hosting and automated backup storage.
  • Legal & Regulatory Authorities: When required by applicable statutory laws, court orders, or official tax regulatory requests.

6. Data Security

We employ robust technical and organizational security measures. All data transmitted between JeEm's POS and our servers is encrypted using standard SSL/TLS protocols. Static data is secured using AES-256 encryption, adhering to PCI-DSS payment security frameworks where applicable.

7. Data Retention

Transaction history and accounting logs are retained for as long as necessary to provide service functionality and to meet legal tax and audit retention policies (typically 5 to 7 years depending on legal jurisdiction).

8. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you have the right to:

  • Access and request copies of the personal data held under your merchant account.
  • Request corrections or updates to inaccurate profile information.
  • Request account deletion or data portability subject to statutory financial compliance requirements.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy periodically to reflect operational, legal, or security enhancements. Merchants will be notified of material updates through in-app notices or direct email communication.
